...firebird? i'am a realist so i know this will cost alot of money. I have a 1990 Firebird V6 3.1L engine. I know that this is a process and they did it to a 89 V6 Trans Am. I love my car and thought about buying a turbo charged Trans Am but they go for 10g's and think this would be easier to do. My engine is young and dosen't have alot of miles. This proably wont get done until another year just thinking ahead anybody with helpful information would be appreciated

yea its definetly going to be expensive and its a lot better to do it right to start and your motor should be a good base, but it should give a lot of power to the V6

With the extremely weak bottom end and head problems the 3.1 has had I don't believe turbocharging that engine would be worth the expense or effort. By the time you are finished building it to stay together you'd be better off selling what you have and buying a LT1 powered TA.

I agree, the 3.1 was not a strong motor to support mods. But if you do do it Id recommend a supercharger. That is what I did to my 96 firehawk and a supercharger is pulling all the time, a turbo needs to spool up. Buy a 350 crate motor for the price of the turbo/supercharger and put that in the car, more RELIABLE power...
