The "Rooster"

Car overheated and shutoff while driving on the highway at 65 PH. I had AAA tow the car home. I tried to start the engine but it would not start. Fuel pump was good, had spark coming from the distributor cap but I noticed water/antifreeze leaking out of the exhaust manifold and muffler. I checked the engine oil and it looked like chocolate milk. Looks like the antifreeze made its way inside the engine. I changed the oil, added more antifreeze, changed the spark plugs and tried to start it again but it will not start. I’ve decided to replace the head gasket but if this doesn’t work, I would like to replace the engine. I would like to go with a bigger engine but keep the transmission and everything else like the computer, sensors etc. Does anyone know which GM engine I can use? The car is a 1985 Pontiac Sunbird convertible with a 1.8 liter – 4cyl with a 3 speed automatic. The car is in excellent condition (interior/exterior). I can’t see myself parting it.

Bent valves and timing shifted. Go withe same engine. or rebuild the one you have.
