So I'm new to the forum and already have questions. I have a 99 grand am gt with a number of mods.
Mods:
Bigger throttle body
Flashed pcm
Intake
Exhaust
Struts front and rear

The head gasket just blew after almost 12 years.

What do I do for more power?
Add a supercharger?
Do an engine swap (3800 I was thinking)? Also what does it mean 60 deg block vs 90 deg block? Is this referring to the engine orientation in the engine bay?

What would you do?

I am willing to drop 5-10k in this baby.

Thoughts?

Yes, they are different blocks. Unfortunatly the 3.4 blocks aren't great modable motors. The 3.8 has way more potential. Check out some GP or 3.8 forums for sugestions

It describes the physical build of the engine. For a simple way to describe the difference in angles is draw out a 60 deg V and a 90 deg V. The amount of underhood space required for the 90 deg will be a fair amount more than the 60 deg.

I believe another member was thinking of doing this as well. You'll have to do the measurements on both engines and your engine bay room.

Personally, with the lack of room under the hood with the 3.4 V6, I wouldn't even consider the 3.8. But I'm just not that adventurous.

Thanks so much. That makes alot of sense.
I was just speaking with Mike from Milzy motorworks and he suggests I swap in a 3500 and build off of that.

I think thats what I will probably end up doing.

Thanks!
