The other day I went to the store and my car ran fine. When I left the store the power came on and everything worked but the starter wouldn't crank, so I had the car towed home. I got under the car and shorted the wires on the starter solenoid and the car started, so I started tearing apart the steering column and checked out all of the wires and fuses and everything to see if anything was, loose, broken or shorted out. I saw no problems visually. I should mention that I noticed that the horn and trunk release switch stopped working at the same time. After about 3 hours of messing around on it I decided to just put the thing back together and call a shop to look at it. I decided to give the key one last turn and the car turned over and started, even though I didn't fix or change anything. I checked the horn and truck release button and they were working again as well. For the time being my car is back to normal, but I have a feeling it will do this again. Any ideas what the problem is?

clean the battery terminals and post.. and make shure the water level is ok..

These had many electrical problems.
Sounds like a bad ground from your engine to the frame, or battery to the frame.

it certainly will! you have a loose connection somewhere or a dirty one that you managed to jiggle when you were messing with the dash. a diiferent wire goes from the stater switch (ignition) than the one that triggers the starter to spinits from a different post even on the starter switch
