I have a 1960 Catalina
The first number on the vin is 1
Which means what series it is.
I read that Catalina that year is 21
Why does mine read 1
The stamping is clear
not sure why you think 21, the 1 is correct for the Cat, the 2nd and 3rd digits should be the year, 60, the forth digit should be a letter for the plant that made it and the last 4 digits are a sequential number, thus 160A9999
a vehicle series has nothing to do with the vin. The only place I have found knowing the series is of use is in looking up parts. Yesterday someone was asking about transmission cross members for a Firebird and they had them listed by years and series which made things difficult.
Mine has three!
The reason I asked
Barrett Jackson auction’s had a 60 Catalina tripower
It had one large one on top - maybe it was an error!
I recently purchased a barn find restored 60 Catalina
Original try power and eight lug wheels! Rare car!
Just want to make sure everything’s on the up and up!
