I have a 2000 Grand Am with 2.4 dual over head cams. THE WATER PUMP IS LEAKING and I need to replace it, I never worked on one of these engines, it looks like it is turned by the timing belt, the belt was never replaced so I think I should replace it to. Is there anything I should know about before beginning the job. Thanks in advance.

I haven't started the job yet but I did some reserch, found out it dosen't have a belt it has a chain. When I looked at the car I can see the water pump from underneeth. I looked at it quick didn't jack it up or anything. It looked like the pump is under that cover on the front of the motor. I will get a better look at it when I work on it mayby tonight.
