What could be wrong with my Pontiac Sunfire? Check engine and theft system...

...lights on? I was driving home a couple days ago and accidentally ran over a dead animal. The car ran fine all the way home, but when I tried starting it the next day, it wouldn't start. I have the theft system and check engine lights on, and they won't go away. The car sounds like it's just about to turn over, but won't quite make it. I've checked obvious things like blown fuses, loose gas cap, and the amount of fuel. I had it towed to a shop, but haven't heard anything in over 24 hours. Any thoughts on what could be wrong and what it might cost me?

Sounds like starter cable/Wire verses animal! $15.
You could of bent the starter enough so it wouldn't want to turn!

you could try resetting the computer by disconnecting the neg battery terminal for a few seconds then connecting it back

Possibly could have thrown the alternater belt that will set codes and theft system lights ...
