...firebird? ok well when idling the rpms keep going up and down and never stays in the same spot and after i start driving and come to a stop the car my stall out or the rpms get really low and almost stalls. i changed the mass air flow senser cause it wasnt working anymore changed some hoses that air goes through cause they didnt look like they were in good shape and got it checked by my guy and he said there were no air leaks and leaks what so ever. again its a 1986 firebird

i dont know what sensors and what fuel injection the 86 firebird has... but it could simply need a decent tuneup, may been to have the injectors/TBI cleaned... and it may be the O2 sensor.... or a mixture of all of that.

Are you having the check engine light on?, If so, you can get a paper clip and connected from the point A to B ( check the Haynes manual to make sure)and turn the key ignition to the point when all lights on dash board come on, then a few seconds later it will give you light flashes, 1 flash means 1 , 2 flashes 2 and so on, the book has a trouble code chart in the emission system section, look it up. Have you checked the throttle speed sensor? Also the sensor that you replaced, was it supposed to be adjusted or did not? I used to own a chevy S10 ,1988 and one of the sensors had to be adjusted using a multimeter. I don't have any access to my resources from my current location otherwise I could assist you better.Good luck!

We would need a little more info to help out, like what engine you have and what if anything else you did to it lately and when it started acting up..
was it after you did something or did it just start gradualy or all of a sudden?
it could be a number of things like said the EGR could be stuck the TPS sensor could be bad, the o2 sensor could be bad ...
are there any signs of smoke at the exhaust has the mileage gone down ..
the coolant temperature sensor could be bad causing the system to go full rich (if there is alot of black smoke that could be a possibility) anything you could tell us would help narrow it down ...
