What do you think of the

Pontiac Torrent? I'm going to be buying a new car in the near future and the Pontiac Torrent is one of my choices. I'd like to hear from anyone that owns one. Does it ride smoothly? Is it quiet inside? Any other pros/cons?

I don't own one but I like them. I am a Pontiac technician. I haven't seen many problems with them!

I have a friend who bought one for his wife in February and he absolutely loves it. Good ride and decent fuel economy for an SUV.
The only thing I, personally, would be concerned about it the long-term reliability. My family will never buy another Pontiac, as our '99 Grand Am had countless problems. In addition, Pontiac did not address our needs and complaints about the car to our satisfaction, so we ended up having to trade it in and take an equity loss.

We've had ours since they came out in 2006 - AWD trim. My wife uses it as her "Mom" mobile and it does great in the bad weather we get in the Midwest, handles well, etc.

They can also take a beating as well - she's been in a front crash (airbags deployed) and a rear crash and the dealer's body shop put everything back together, just like Humpty Dumpty. She wasn't hurt in weither crash but was shook up - almost as good in a crash as Mercedes we used to have.

I'm not real big on the fuel consumption though - all city driving is about 19 MPG, but I think some of that is her based on her take-offs - it's like she's driving my sports car sometimes! haven't road tripped in it yet, so don't know what the extended Highway MPG is.

And the kids (11 & 6) like it as well.
