True and false. OP, calling it a 5.0 is a slight fail. It's a 5.7 LS1 engine. Top speed on the GAUGE is 155. Not the car. The car can go past that, especially if you have the top speed limiter tuned out. The gears in the rear end also affect it. Bigger gears mean a much faster acceleration, but you lose some top speed, but who really goes top speed anyways? I prefer a nice 0-100 mph pull any day, 155 is dangerous. Side note: Bigger gears also means a slight decrease in gas mileage. The biggest gear you can fit on that stock 10 bolt is a 4.10, but aftermarket rear ends can go much higher
(I have heard this for the LT1s, not sure if it is the same for the LS1s) if the gauges go to 155mph instead of 120mph then you have the more performancey motor. not sure if it is true or not but I heard it from a reliable source.
