...pontiac grand am? I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am with 82,000 miles on it. Two nights ago, the turn signal began clicking very rapidly. When I turn on my turn signal, it works fine, but once I complete the turn, it clicks very rapidly and then click randomly while I am driving without using my turn signal. The light itself does not do anything differently, but the sound of the turn signal clicks wildly the entire time I am driving, even then the turn signal is off. What is the problem, how can it be fixed, and how much will it cost to fix it?
It sounds like you have broken the tab off of the actuator-

If that is the case, how can it be fixed?

Call your local Pontiac dealer and see if they know, you describe to them the symptoms. Of course , you may hear "Well , we can't tell untill you bring it in", which means $$, but you may get one that may give you an idea. 2. Find a local shop that will give you a free dignostic on it, then you can (may) get the part yourself and install. It's got to be either the relay , the flasher itself , or in the turn signal arm actuator. The first 2 are cheaper , the arm assembly can be removed (with some work) and cleaned if it's corroded , but it's easier to replace it , but it's about $60 to $80.

I had that same problem with my 2002 grandam, I found a post in the internet saying there was too much grease in the steering column, i would undo the battery if i was you when you take it apart. the airbag could go off,

It is an easy fix.

The multi function (turnsignal switch) is bad it is a common issue with the cars of that vintage a replacement will be needed and best done by a tech that has done them before as the column must be dissasembled ..
