Hello, i have a 2002 Pontiac sunfire gt and i have a serious problem. I was driving home today and i noticed they my low battery indicator was flashing on and off and so did my oil level indicator. After about 20 minutes the lights just stayed on, I checked my oil fluid and it was below half way so I filled it and it is still giving me the warning light. As I was driving home it felt like my car died for a sec or two but just once. What is weird about this was that the car drove fine in the morning. My service light is on but my check engine is not but it should be because my EVAP is broken and I’ve always had a check engine light. My engine sounds really funny and it has a kind of a screeching sound too it especially at acceleration. I plugged my car reader and it tells me that there are no errors. When I was filling my oil up I noticed that it there was smoke coming out of the oil fill hole. I know there is a lot here but if someone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

ok well i mostly want to fix my oil pressure and knocking issue, how do i check if my oil pump is working? can i start the car with out the valve cover on? i want to see if my valves are getting oil and if they are not then there is my problem. As of checking my battery issue i will try starting my car then unhooking the battery and see if it still runs, if not then my alternator is gone but if so then i guess it's not that big of an issue right? BTW sorry for double posting i just really need my car back.

To check oil pressure you remove the sender and temporarily attach a gauge. I really doubt your car will run with the battery disconnected, the alternator charges the battery and the car runs off the battery. You use a voltmeter to determine if the alternator is bad. I cannt see how you have a check engine light on and you dont get anything on your reader. Take it to autozone for a second scan source. Try to pinpoint the source of the noise, you can use a length of rubber hose, hold one end against your ear and move the other end around the engine.

ok well i found the problem, as my car was in my garage i started my car and i noticed that my fan belt wasn't going and i found that my harmonic balancer bolt was stripped so i am going to order a new bolt and see if that fix's it but my question is, there is a slot cut out in the balancer that looks like a slot for a key and when i pulled the balancer off there was no key. should there be a steel key in this slot? i do have a picture of the balancer and it is attached to this post.

thanks

Yes, there should be a key, hopefully it didnt fall into the engine and also hope the crankshaft isnt stripped.
