What kind of superchargers fit and produce a good amount of horsepower for my 1979 pontiac

Trans AM? It has a 403ci 6.6liter V-8 engine

You'll have to check sites for applications. Try Procharger, Powerdyne....
Go to www.summitracing.com and put your car info in and see what comes back for them.

No disrespect...But, That 403 V8 sucks it has to be the worst designed motor by Pontiac next to the 401 V8 that was terrible. I know because i have had three Trans-Ams (2)1979 and (1)1980 and replaced the motors in all three, I put 455 V8's in all three cars and tricked them from there. But, if you still want to use that motor....That's cool. They do make superchargers for that motor.but, you have to order it and wait for the intake to be built you need to have the motor balanced and blueprinted with the supercharger or it will never run right.....Are going to use carbs or fuel injection because it really does matter and if you really want you car to hook up you might consider some transmission work.

the 403 is an oldsmobile engine. Not a pontiac. So lets not give pontiac shit for building this engine. lol. Anyways, If the motor is in good shape, been maintained properly then they are a good motor. I had a 79 TA with that engine and it was awsome. tons of tq. But I do agree that its not a motor for boost. Id upgrade the engine, That motor stock only made 185 hp. 330 lbs of tq. For what your going to pay for a supercharger, you may as well put in a nice 350 LT1 or LS1 and have more power for less money. The 400 pontiac was a good motor as well. it had a few more hp than the olds powered TA. it was at 220hp and 335 lbs Tq. If you can find one of them then purchase that and use that as a starting point for more power as they are a strong motor to support mods.
