what speakers to use?

I have a 1998 firebird as I'm sure you could guess by my name, and I need help deciding what to do for speakers. The speakers in the rear seats were not loud enough and the one is blown out. Ive found other subs that are supposed to fit to replace those, they are like 4'' kickers. I saw other ideas though that included using the hole in the driver side trunk to fit a small box with two small subs or one bigger one. Maybe both replace the side speakers and put a small box in the hole? They do not have to be too loud, but I want good sound to accommodate the rest of the speakers and hear some base. I don't know a lot about speakers so you're going to have to help me out! Any ideas?

Also, if you have the Monsoon stereo, you are somewhat limited. I'd go for the subwoofer in the drivers rear side, if you don't have the factory 12 disc CD player.

I believe I have the monsoon system and I don't have the 12 disk player. How does the system limit me?

And I love Crutchfield. It has so much useful information. I'm thinking about putting the sub in the drivers side in the hatch. I would also need an amp right?
