What to look for when buying an 88 trans am

Hello All,

Im in the process of purchasing a Trans Am. Im in Florida and the car is in Michigan. I might fly to see the car or have it inspected and shipped down.

The car has 52000 miles and they are asking $8000 apparently the previous owner was a GM engineer.

what things should i look for when buying this car?

It may be best to contact a local Pontiac club to see if anybody is willing to check out the car for you. You want to make sure the engine stampings match the VIN, all options are functioning, frame or suspension rust, check the asking price against a site such as www.carcollectormarket.com, is paperwork available showing original purchase and all maintenance records, and so on.
