Speed Academy runs a piece looking at what's driving the skyrocketing prices of air-cooled Porsche 911s. I think this is a common trend today caused by all the televised auctions. They see a car similar to the one sitting in their garage and are confident they can get a price close to what they see at the auction. The one at the auction is a frame off restoration done by a known shop and the one sitting in the garage looks great at 10 feet and dont look under the car at the frame.

I agree Mel, Barrett Jackson has ruined the price of cars nowdays, .

I like watching the auctions, but the way the prices are now today, you'll never own one ( collector cars) unless you build one of your own out of a lesser model or have a suitcase of cash.

I second that about the auctions , another thing that's crazy is the "barn find" term that use to refer to a desirable model car found in a barn or garage that's been sitting , now every piece of crap that someone finds that's been sitting for years cause its a pos rust bucket ends up on ebay as "barn find!" Starting bid 10k for a pile of rust.I see old rotted out 71,72 gtos for well over 10k that you would need to invest 50k to end up with a high 20s to 30k auto it's a joke what Barrett-Jackson has done.
