I've been looking at the pontaic fieros and they seem like pretty good cars, but i can't decide on which year would be the best to get. One with better fuel efficiency would be nice, and the speakers in the headrest looked cool, but are they even that great? thanks

Well "the best" year to get depends on what you are going to do with it.
1984 was the first year and it only came with the 4-cyl and did have some problems. Many prefer to use the 1984's for engine swaps or kit cars.

1985 thru 1987 are basically all the same. The best part is they have many common parts so maintenance is not expensive or hard to find parts.
The 4-cyl with the 5-spd is the most fuel efficient. Late 1986 thru 1988 had the 5-spd with the V-6.

1988 had many improvements to the suspension and brakes. The flipside is some of the improved parts are hard to find. They only made 26,000 1988 Fiero's so the cost to repair tends to be higher. This is the most popular year due to low production numbers and the better handling/braking.

1984 and 1985 had the speakers in the seats. If you replace them with quality speakers you can get a decent sound. Some have even put the earlier seats into later year Fiero's so they can use the speakers in the seats.

Which ever year you get, Just make sure the one you buy has been maintained well.

best year of fiero

In my opinion , it would be the 88 model because of the upgraded suspension. Better handling stock and easyier to upgrade . Also can swap Vett suspension parts. Other suggestion would be a limited production vehicle, like a fiero pace car , etc.
