i own a 2001 pontiac grand am and i know for a fact that the location of the low sideport is under the passenger side fender wheel well. your gonna have to take off the plastic garment and you should see a blue cap, this is where you fill the freeon

This car uses R134a and the fitting should be located on the right side close to the compressor, it will have a blue plastic cap on it, that cap just keeps the dirt out and unscrews. there are two fitting on cars and the low side (the one you will use) is a different size than the high side which is the other one that you will not use

if you have to ask you should not mess with it take it to a garage that does this kind of work as there is a high pressure side and a low pressure side if you hook up the wrong way you could get hurt so please find someone to do it for you

x2 on JL's comment. A/C systems involve high pressures and low temperatures that will cause serious equipment damage and personal injury. While I encourage people to learn how to do it, this is one area not to go off and wing it on your own.

Yes, there are safeguards, such as different sized high and low pressure fittings, along with color-coded port caps. But this is not an idiot-proof system.

Understanding how A/C systems work is vital to solving the problem - yes, the majority of times it will be a case of low freon, but there are many other reasons as to why the system is not performing as it should. Eye and hand protection are a must if one chooses to do-it-yourself.
