Where is the right place to put jack stands on a 2000 Pontiac Montana?

I'm trying to replace the rear shocks on my 2000 Pontiac Montana. I can't find a good place to put the jack stands to support the van. I don't want to put them under the rear axle since that is supposed to hang down so I can replace the shocks. The only thing that I can think of is to use a floor jack under the rear axle to raise the back end and then place the jack stands under the jack points where the regular tire jack goes. Does that seem right? Is there a better place to put the jack stand?

Always put the jack stands under the frame. It is reinforced where the regular tire jack should go, that is where they should be. Place the floor jack under the part of the frame that runs across the back of the van, if there is nothing in the way, and place the jack stands. Otherwise, you should jack up one side near the jack point and place the stands.

It will definetley say in the owners manual as its the same for changing a wheel.
