Hello all, I am having trouble with my 94 Grand Am.... the interior lights will NOT shut off unless the car has been off for 20 minutes as a battery saving feature. I have tried fussing with the dimmer light switch countless times as well as the headlight switch, I have also looked for random switches and buttons on the dash and on the lights themselves but have had no luck. I pulled the fuse but it also disables my radio and makes a bunch of things act up, so that's no good. I am thinking it might be the door jamb switch? But am having trouble finding it on the door.... does anyone know exactly where it could be and what it might look like?
Not a car pro by any means.... all help is appreciated!
Thanks!

Isnt it located on the door jam "B" pillar, black rubber piece that pushes in?

The door jamb, where the door lock striker is located

Ok after googling images I -think- I know what you're talking about.... how can I tell if it is stuck? It doesn't look like a switch to me.
Keep in mind I know next to nothing about vehicles!

if you press in on it the interior light should go out

I took a close look at my doors and I didn't find anything resembling a button or switch on the driver's door, but on the passenger door on the actual door itself, towards the bottom I found a black rubber piece that was hanging on by a thread. I pushed on it and nothing happened, so I ripped it off and it exposed a small hole. I poked a pen up there and couldn't see or feel anything much... lights are still acting up. Is this the door jamb switch? Did an integral part of it perhaps become loose and is now floating around on the inside of the door panel?
Other than this little thing I couldn't find anything else. No ideas left!

I should also mention that I was playing with the dimmer switch and had turned on the interior lights with it at the time that they decided to stay on. Could there be a wiring problem with the dimmer switch itself?

I don't know about the 4th Gen GA's, but the 5th Gen ('99+) have the switch integrated into the latch itself.

I havent been able to find a door switch at advance or autozone or napa so it could be part of the door actuator mechanism. The dimmer could also be the cause.
