I have a 2001 Aztek that runs fine when it is below 40 degrees farenheit outside, but whenever the temperature gets warm, it begins to idle high (above 1 1/2 RPM). The hotter it is outside, the worse the problem gets. On 80 degree days, it idles around 4 RPM (not drivable). When it is put in Drive, it will usually run at a somewhat lower RPM, but you can still feel the pull while driving, and braking is not good. Many times I will have to keep braking just to keep the speed limit. Sometimes, I can just restart it once, and it will idle below 1 RPM again, but on very hot days, it may take 5 or more restarts before it finally idles normally. I've taken it to 4 mechanics who "fixed" the problem temporarily, but none of the cures have lasted more than a month.
