Why doesn't my '91 Firebird start even after I replaced the fuel filter?

I was driving and my Firebird began to lose power,it almost shut off but then it kept going. I drove a little further and my car died on me. I started it up again and drove a little further, and then it died again. This happened 4 or 5 more times until I made it to a gas station. I put in gas because I saw on the gas gauge that I was low,but after I put in gas my car wouldn't start,it just turns over. If I step on the gas peddle as soon as I turn the key my car revs up but it dies immediately. I listened for the gas pump and I can hear it whirring. Someone told me it was either the gas pump or that some kind of alarm had been triggered by the chip in my key. This morning I tried starting the car and it turned on so I decided to take it for a drive to see how it was doing. It drives fine if I give it a little bit of gas but if I go 20 mph it dies on me right away. I changed the fuel filter and the car started up but once I got up to 3 rpm's the car died, afterwards it went back to starting up for a few seconds and then dieing agian right away.

ignition switch/component, plugged exhaust, timing, air/fuel problem, bad distributor, computer, many things.

I would check coil, tuneup, ignition module, etc...

I've seen the hose from fuel pickup tube from motor to outlet tube fall off or dry rot and not suck fuel even when the pump is fine as well.

also, unplug the MAF and see of it runs.

You need to check for air/fuel mix, fuel pressure, injection, firing order is correct, spark, circuit voltage(s),.

I would scope it. it could even be a TPS/AIC/MAF/ air filter element, fuel regulator, ignition, you need to isolate the problem(s) and may need to have a good tech check it out.
