why wont my 95 pontiac grand am engine turnover even with a new starter and battery?

the interior lights turn on, windshield washers work, and air blows, but no engine spark, just a humming sound with no crank at all.

the starter could have a flat spot - the solenoid could be bad - did you clean the post on the battery and the battery cables - are they tight

have you tried to cracnk it directly from the starter motor with a screw dirver. you could have a bad ignition.
