freely? 94 Pontiac Firebird? I got out of school, started up my car (94 Pontiac Firebird 3.4L SFI V6) and smoke POURED out of my hood, so i shut it off, looked under the hood and my serpentine belt was snapped. I checked to see if all of the pulleys turned freely except the main crank pully obviously and one didn't, it's the pulley directly under the alternator pulley, I'm not sure exactly why my serpentine belt snapped or if this pulley is supposed to turn freely or not but any info that would make it so I don't have to take it to a shop would help a lot.
