Wierd Noise coming from Engine...HELP!

Hey everyone....

I keep hearing this wierd cracking noise in my 00 Sunfire.its from the right side of the engine(right when sitting in car,left when outside facing engine)......the noise isnt continious,but happens when I usually turn or accelerate....it is pretty loud and can be heard from far away(20-25 feet)....anyone have any idea what this could be...?Thanks!

Yeah I have a wierd rattling noise in the cabin comming from my 2.4L compartment. only on decel though. just quality pontiac I guess.

is it when your moving or all the time?

Sounds like your cv joint.

Check to see if the boot is ripped or damaged.

If not you may want to take off the steering knuckle to see if there is any play in your axle.


(edit) On second thought it could be a wheel bearing too....

This sounds like brake chatter.

Try sprayng some brake lube on there it should go away.

If not inspect your pads n rotors

yeah not the brakes. I just did them. Its coming from the center of my dashboard upon decel. I dont know. could be lots of things. I have a 0 deductible warranty but the problem with that is if they dont find anything they can fix under warranty I pay diagnostic fee. which for the dealerships here in phoenix is 100 bucks. If it blows up and catches on fire so be it. I know how to tuck and role

Hmm, maybe its vibrations in the steering column. That is weird though, in the passenger cabin?
