Will a 700R4 transmission work in a 93 Firebird Formula v8?

The transmissions look the same but the electrical connections are different. Can you possibly modify it to work in the 93 Firebird, v8? (The tranny I am trying to use was from a 89 Trans Am) Only knowledgeable responses please! Thanks!

The 700r4 shifts mechanicaly, the 460le that came in the car is controled electricaly. The best tranny would be the same one that came with the car.
