Will GM ever come out with another mid-engine car?

I was just thinking about this and currently the only two manufacturers that have a production mid-engined car that is under 100 grand is toyota and, the British toyota, Lotus. I have been trying to think if there is anymore but I can't think of any... has anyone heard of GM coming out with another Mid Engine, Aside from that hideous corvette. That thing just don't look right... The car wasn't meant to be a mid-engine so why the heck are they thinking about it? But, Maybe something else like a Fiero. Ooh someone should find a way to tell the designers to do a modern day Fiero with a 2.2L ecotec as the base model, a 3.9L as the mid model, and the LS3 for the big boy.... and keep it around the 2500lb curb weight, and couple them with the F40 so you get a nice 6-spd to play with.... mmmmm.... *drool*

but anyways back to my original question have there been any talks?

EDIT: Just realized that there is actually only one mid-engined car under 100K and that's lotus. The MR2 has been gone for a few years now.
