Will having a refurbished engine installed in my Pontiac Grand Am as good as...

...having a new engine? Isn't getting a refurbished or re-manufactured one like getting a car with alot of miles on it? I have had my car in the body shop for a week and, after attempting to repair a 6th cylinder that simply wasn't operating, they have decided to replace it...is this a good idea?

Why would a body shop be working on your engine? Why does the engine have to be replaced? Whats wroing with the number 6 cylinder?
