Will I have to modify anything to fit a Pontiac 455 into 1979...

...Firebird(Non Trans-Am)? I have a chance to buy a 455 for a decent price, but I was just wondering if I would have to do anything to my car to make it fit?
Heres more info on it that you asked for - right now there's a chevy 350 with an automatic 3 spd trans in it.
oh, and yes I would like to use the same transmission if its possible. thank you for your help!

New springs.. Heater core cover, Maybe a trans cross member. Also check you local smog laws before you do.

Is it currently a 6 cylinder?
If its a V8, which one?
Using the same transmission?

Everything will fit fine. The 455 fits just like a 400, which came in the 79's oridinally. The transmission on the 350 will not bolt up to a 455 unless it was a dual bolt pattern transmission.
