ive heard of the chevy caprice buts it look sort of gay. i like the g8 when its a pontiac and puting a chevy sign makes it not so good. i like pontiac and chevy both but i like the g8 becase it is exactlly what i wanted. a cool 4 door fast car thats automatic and has good milage. and its not a ford. the g8 is a fast car. the gt can beat the charger str8 the challenger rt and the sti. the gxp can beat the all of the g8 gt can and the str8 challenger, the m3 and m5, and is evened up with its partner which all you guys like incuding me the camaro SS & the GTO.(and dont lie peeps the g8 is better then the challanger it sucks against the g8) so i really do like pontiac(my bro has a 07 grand prix) and the g8s. so is does anyone know if pontiac will come back. not as a peice of sheet cap price.

No, GM clearly stated Pontiac is gone just like Oldsmobile.

okay I'm sorry but you are completely mistaken, the G8 GT cannot beat the srt8 charger or challenger, it cannot beat the sti, (paper to paper on these, we all know that real world is unlimited) it can beat the RT charger. The GXP cannot beat the SRT8 Challenger, or the M3, and were the heck did you even start to think that it can beat an M5? And it is not evened up against the SS maybe the GTO...

I'm sorry to tell you this, but, the G8, although an extremely formittable car, is not that fast. It does not handle that well. It is not that great of a car. It's an awesome machine for what it is. But it's still a high performance sedan and that means it will never be as good as a 3500lb 414hp M-DCT E90 (M3). the M5 is 500hp and builds 383 ft/lbs of torque on the flattest torque curve you will ever see. The SRT8 Challenger/Charger are both packing 425hp with 420 ft/lbs of torque kicking in at 2300rpms and holding to 4800rpms, they both are carrying 3.92:1 rear ends and you can opt for a Tremec T-56 6spd in the challenger. The STI is an AWD flat four that sits with far less horsepower at 305 with a mere 290 ft/lbs of torque, but, it's only got to drag around 2800lbs over a thousand pounds lighter than the G8!

So again I say sorry to tell you but come back to reality. It's an amazing sedan, it really is, But it ain't no supercar...

GXP 4050 lbs and 415 hp. In the "real" world it might be closer than you think.

you know Zim, I am not going to argue with you about the "real" world, because, heck your right. In the "real" world it would probably be a good close race. That's why I made sure to state that this is based on paper to paper and that we all know that in the real world there are an infanent number of outcomes and no one answer will ever be correct. I was just trying to make a point to ZR1 that you need to have a fact based arguement for such outlandish claims.

And now just because a small part of me has to be right, and I am very sorry about this, the GXP has a 9.75 lbs/HP where as the challenger srt8 is 9.17 lbs/HP So that's over a half a pound weight less for each of those 425hp.

I felt the need to show the rest:

STI: 9.18 lbs/hp
Charger 9.63 lbs/hp
challenger 9.17 lbs/hp
camaro 9.20 lbs/hp
M3 (e90) 8.45 lbs/hp
M5 (e60) 8.6 lbs/hp
GTO 9.31 lbs/hp

G8 gt 10.76 lbs/hp
G8 GXP 9.75 lbs/hp

Second edit:
Just because ZR1 made this claim, I had to check it real quick

Charger RT 10.63 lbs/hp

so maybe the RT charger would win

Wow DR your numbers are not only WAY off but you aren't calculating gear ratios either.

The Charger SRT does the 1/4 mile in 13.6 seconds stock. G8 GT is 13.8, GXP is 13.2 Where are you getting your information at? lol Try motortrend or edmunds or road&track.

Personally I went with the G8 GT since it was $6000 cheaper than GXP, and I put about $1000 into it(Better burning spark plugs, K&N and custom Dynotune, so far. 6.7L stroke n bore with new cam forthcoming) and I do a 12.8second 1/4 0to60 in 4.7seconds. That beats the SRT8 Challenger, Charger, STi, EVO X, E92 M3, M5, GTO, and Camaro. And it's still at least several thousand dollars cheaper than most of those, bar the Camaro. Cheapest new SRT8 Charger/Challenger is $42000. Evo and STi have also both jumped to $40,000. If I put the other $8000 into my G8(which I'm going to) I'll be at 650 horsepower. Screw BMW lol

Pontiac has come back with G8 in the market with a well equipped 3.6 liter high feature V6 engine with 256 horsepower.....

How has Pontiac come back with anything? It is no longer in business.

and sorrry to break the news but all the cars mentioned above have been beaten by me in the real world not bias paper figuers that some one thought the would write yes the horse power figures you quoted where right at the flywheel but what is actually put to the ground is the question. i will tell you i have lost to a new 5.0 with same mods as me and that was only by half a car in a 1/4 mile and i was gaining at the end. i have lost to an m6 and heavily modded m5. now all the other saw my tag.
