I recently got a 2002 Grand Am. The passenger front window was wedged up when I got it. I opened up the door interior skin and found the front clip broken. I replaced it and it almost immediately broke again. One very odd thing is that I have a very hard time getting the clip L-bracket bolts to line up.(these are the ones that attach the clips to the glass.) If I put the front bolt in the bracket the back bracket is about 1/4 inch off. I have to force it to fit the bolt. I think this is causing the clips to break, but why is there a difference between the front and back L-brackets for the bolts?

BTW I found 2 other broken clips in the bottom of the door

Is my window regulator bad? any reasonable suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

How did you replace it in the first place? Did you have to remove the whole assembly, or can it be done with the window in place?

replacing the clips

I wedged the glass with a wooden shim part way up. I unbolted the metal elbows and removed the rest of the old clips. I then hooked the new clips in the track at a 90 degree angle to the glass and rotated then over in line with the glass. i then slid the metal elbows into the slots and bolted to the glass.

BTW I ended up buying a new windows drive assembly. My cables were bad. Ive got both clips. im planning to sell them on EB.
