winter tires

Ok i know its early but winter tires for my 2008 torrent fw gxp looking just getting a idea now before the winter is here.by the way i am in toronto canada and i now the tire size 235/50/18 but had to find a winter tire in that size.I was looking at the general altimax artic and michelin x-ice but nothing shows in my size? also looking for winter rims.Can i go to a 235/60/17? anyways any tips on where to find tires and rims thanks guys
 
i did try tirerack and 1010 tires and doesnt show winter rims for that size and only 4 type of tires for that size .
 
I take it you dont like any of the 4 tires available and dont want to spend $128 for each alloy wheel? If you go down to 17" the wheel price drops to $99 and 16" drops to $55 for steel.

can 225/55r/17 find on my torrent .guy i am talking to at a tire places says he has tires in that size that can fit my torrent just wanne make sure thanks
 
the outside diameter of the tire has to be the same as what you have now within a 1/2" or so to prevent computer issues.
 
sorry not great with cars and tires lol so u think that size would be a problem for the truck?

ask the dealer what the mounted diameter of the tire is that he wants to sell to you and measure the diameter of the tire currently on the vehicle. They should be close. Without knowing what brand you have and what brand you are considering to buy I found about a 1/2" difference in diameter, the 18" was 27.3" and the 17" was 26.8".
