Would you pick a Pontiac G8 GT or a BMW 550I?

I've been car shopping for the last 2-3 months for my first car I pretty much love BMW but can't make up my mind on which one I've gone from the X5 to the 335. Now I made up my mind on the 550I but my mom is now trying to get me to go with the new G8 GT, she says its cheaper the insurance will be cheaper. I don't really know much about the G8 GT but the first one I saw was on Youtube saw some pictures it looks great but don't really know much about it plus should I really pick a Pontiac over a BMW?

It is true the Pontiac is cheaper and insurance is cheaper, but that's because it not in the same class as a BMW. If money is your primary concern, go with the Pontiac. If engineering, performance, and luxury are your objectives, go with BMW.
