New Here...'67 Catalina Wagon

Recently bought a '67 Catalina Wagon. If I keep it, I will be looking at upgrading the front brakes to Disc. Currently has Power Drums.

Anyone have any preferences?

I have heard nothing but good things about the Scare Bird Conversion Kits, they even allow you to retain your drum Brakes Spindles, Here is a link to the one for your car

I saw those, but they are 2x the price of some other kits I have found.

Went with the Scarebird kit. Doing front and rear. They recently updated their rear system. So far all looks good. In the teardown process now. Everything on the brake system will be new except the pedal.

Also going to replace the entire fuel system since the car has been off the road for 25 years. I found a fuel tank, but I am having a hard time finding a fuel tank strap. Any ideas?

Usually I'm not crazy about wagons but maybe it's the wheels, really looks good! Concerning the strap have you tried www.frankspontiacparts.com ? If you have one good strap could you modify a strap for a different Pontiac, some are available for non-wagons.

Getting the rears assembled...

Tearing the front end apart now. Rebuilding the suspension and steering systems while it's torn apart for the front disc conversion...

Off with the old Ball Joints!!

Had the Upper and Lower Control Arms stripped and Powdercoated, they are out for new bushings to be installed.

Cleaned and started painting the frame before reassembly.

New Springs arrived yesterday... Just waiting on shorter front shocks. Should be here next week. As of next Wednesday, I should have all parts and everything painted. Reassemble should be reasonably easy with all new clean parts.

Painting Steering and some Suspension components Gunmetal Grey....

Have to paint the shocks too...

Hardly. Just building a reliable driver for now. Next winter we will pull the Motor and Trans. for rebuild. Heads, cam, 4 barrel and headers. (Unless I come across a nice LS3/6 speed combo before that.)

I installed 3" rear and 2" front lowering springs.

Finished it up late last Thursday night. Hit my goal of having it at the first Cars and Coffee meet on Sunday. It sure is an attention getter....
