Hi folks!
Mr. Trouble is here again.

Just bought OBD2 Bluetooth interface to read error codes. Connected it and... nothing happens at all. Checked +12v in port - nothing there, actually it shows around 0.1 Volt something. Tested that dongle on my friend's f-150 - works just fine.

Checked fuses for cigarette lighter and aux power outlet (23 and 25 in fusebox under the hood), both look alright and both outlets have power.

This vehicle full of riddles thou runs just fine. Tranny was rebuild around 1.5 years ago after that quite a few troubles with electric system keep popping.
Eg tire pressure, no automatic dome lights when doors open...
Computer sometimes resets. One morning it shows messages in Spanish (yeah, in Canada), remote start wont work sometimes, saying 'remote start is disabled' thou it is on (in settings).

Sad, the car isnt rusty and mechanically sound

Any ideas how to make obd2 port function? We sorta need to do e-test in December and without obd2 reading it is not possible.

OBD port power is related to the cigarette lighter fuse and that is in the passenger compartment box

When ever I have a power related problem I test each and every fuse in the vehicle
I also confirm with the owners manual that the correct fuse is in each location.

If this vehicle was purchased used or serviced by anyone other than yourself, you really do not know what has been done to the fuses.

On my Ford Ranger I have been slowly working on to get on the road.

I found fuses in spots that were labeled not used and missing in spots that needed a fuse.

To add to this mess more than 6 fuses had too high of a amperage fuse to make up for the crappy wiring the previous owner did that I had to sort out.

One of the main reasons I always check all the fuses is because the factory is not perfect I have found vehicles in the past that has TSBs listed to update listed circuits that is protected by a certain fuse. meaning they didn't label the panel or owners manual correctly and addressed this in a TSB ( technical service bulletin )

That is wrong vehicle. I just checked your link. It is for Montana and we have Montana SV6 which is second generation.

Here is the correct link:
http://www.vadengmpp.com/owners-manual/pontiac/2006-Pontiac-Montana-SV6.pdf

Somehow they dont have document for 2005 Montana sv6. I downloaded mine from some place else

So my fusebox look very different and both cigarette lighter fuses are under the hood

If you run out of ideas, sign up for Alldata diy with a discount code I provided for $14.95
ask if you cannot find the thread.

Or check with your local library for Chilton's online which may be more informative than their printed versions from what I hear, plus its free.

AutoZone also has free repair and diagnostic information yet lacks in many areas, it is like a lite version of Alldata.

Then there is Mitchell 1 diy which is Mitchell on demand

Alldata and Mitchell will give you TSBs and recall information along with Pin point test diagnostic flow charts, wiring diagrams etc.

Yet Lately I find Alldata seems to have left out some information or makes it hard to find.

I have a 5 year subscription to Alldata for both our cars yet I am thinking about trying out Mitchell On demand just to see which is better or easier to use.

Sorry I couldn't be much more help with this because I would need some sort of manual to work from to be of any use to you.

so fuse #23 and #25 in the under hood box are good? you tested them? have you tried this Bluetooth devise in another GM product?

Thanks for the help guys. I figured that we have some wiring problem... Seems like we are going to scrap the car by December.

actual location of obdII fuse

you will find the obdII fuse on the instrument panel fuse box located on the right side of the dash. it is actually called the Data Link Connector (DLC) and is on the ONSTAR Fuse at #6. The DLC is not labeled on the fuse box diagram. My information comes from the factory service manual.

I too have an 06 SV6 and just rebuilt my manifold and do all of my own work on it with very little help. I have factory service manuals in various forms and feel free to ask any question.

I have a love hate relationship with my Montana. I love to own it and love to do work on it but I hate the engineering and poor design of certain systems which is why I also think of scrapping it.

Enjoy!
