In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... Hello, I've found this forum on the internet and am hoping somebody can help me with a 1974 engine build? I'm finding it hard to locate .040" shells. I know King made them but they don't have stock. Does anybody know where I can find a set? Or could I grind the crank to a speck closer to another engine? I'm sure there's a solution. Thanks.

ETA: I'm in the wrong place, sorry. Please could a mod put this thread somewhere more suitable?

Mike.

Thanks, Summit were the first place I tried as they showed .040" in their catalogue but King don't hold stock. Interesting that you mention a .050". I'll check that out. I'll also fire an email to the link you provided. i appreciate your help.

Mike.

looking at summit racing they only show .030 and next .050.

try contacting www.wallaceracing.com

Summit say the .050" is special order so I'll hold my breath. I may get lucky :-).

I couldn't find a contact link at Wallaceracing and struggled to navigate their site but I'll try again later. Thanks.

Mike.

Well, I've drawn a complete blank on the oversized shells so it looks like a new crank or good used one will be the solution. I'll need standard specs as opposed to a stroker. |So far I've only seen strokers being advertised. Does anybody know where I can source either a new stock cast crank or a nice condition stock crank? I'm in the UK so it'll need shipping. Thanks.

just a thought, anybody do crankshaft welding on your side of the pond? Weld additional material to the journals and then machine them. Not sure how the cost would be compared to the new part and shipping.

It's not a common option over here. I think I'll bite the bullet and buy the refurbed Butler item. At least the I can crack on with the build :-).
