Hello, I just bought a '69 Lemans with an OHC 6. I'm wondering if the OHC 6 was a rare option for the convertible. Does anyone know where I can find production number data?

I absolutely love this car, and I'm really happy to have an A body Pontiac again. My first car was a '68 GTO. That was thirty seven years ago!

There were 5,676 LeMans convertibles in 1969. I do not know if you will find a breakdown by engine. The base 6 cylinder was not rare but the optional HO 6 cylinder with a 4bbl carburetor was quite rare.

Thanks for the info. Part of my dilemma of course is whether or not to drop a 400, 428, 455 in it. The car has been punched a couple of times, so its not a stellar example.Still, I would venture to say that Pontiac made few in this configuration.

I do not believe there is a body style breakdown between V8 & OHC6 engines. There are OHC-6 production numbers, and they do break down 1bbl & 4bbl production numbers per Model only, A-body (Lemans and Tempest) F-body (firebird) and it does break out 1bbl & 4bbl numbers. But does not break out Hardtop & Convertible numbers. Sorry. When I get back home I will see if I can dig out the numbers for you.

If it is a Sprint Model with the 4bbl carb they made very few Tempest or Lemans Sprints in 1968 or 1969. But if it is a 1bbl engine the made quite a few examples of each body style.

If it is the original engine I would keep it original, if it is a 1bbl car it will never be fast but it would be a good around town cruiser and get almost 20mpg. With a V8 you would be lucky to get 1/2 the MPG. But it is your car so your preference is what counts. Please post some pictures if you get a chance.
