Hi can anyone help me with this problem I am replacing the rear disc pads on my 79 trans am , the pads came with 2 small clips , the ones I took off didn't have these clips , so I don't know where they fit , or even if I need them
Thanks
Ian

Can you post a picture of the clips?

I don't remember any "clips" on my old 79 Formula's rear disc's, but I did sell it in the mid 1980's.

Do the clips look like the parts pictured on the bottom row below?

If so the are just anti squeal clips that mount on the back of the pads, and insert into the inner part of the brake caliper piston. and are not needed.

If they don't look like that post pictures of what you have. It always helps to have visual aids.

Thanks I found the answer , there is no retaining clips except for the clip on the piston , as with spare parts these pads are made to suit other models like Chrysler ,GM etc , it would have been nice if they had put a note in packet , would have saved me from a headache
Many Thanks

The clips are only used on the front discs
