2008 Torrent GXP 3.6l VVT V6 timing gear

My Torrent 3.6L VVT AWD has 85k miles. Tripped check engine light. After GM dealer inspection says timing chain is starting to go loose. Needs replaced. $2600 repair. Seems too soon for chain to go bad. Any of you had problem and would GM do a policy adjustment?? Curious.

Really doubt GM will do anything at 12 years and 85k miles.
Get a second opinion and estimate.

Our 2015 had a rattle @80k miles and we had 100k warranty. Dealer said, no cel, no problem. So, from 08 till 15’ they did not fix chain issue. I know a shop that will do chains for $1500.

Are you sure about that? My check engine was on because I forgotten to put the gas cap. After 2 days it was off. In my mind a timing chain is for life. Like transmission fluid (no gauge on my 3.4 engine, V6, 160k miles (240 000 km in Canada).

Mordini’s 08 3.6 motor rattles. our 15’ equinox with 3.6 has rattling chains. All 3.6 motors have lousy chains. It’s a gm std design. Poor quality chains.
how much did gm change the chain design from 08 to 2015?
dont seem to be improved much.
