My 76 T/A wheel offset should be 5.00 inches
70 - 76 show a 5.0 inch offset
78-81 show 4.25 inch offset
What problems would I encounter by installing 17 x 9 snowflake wheels with 4.25 offset on a 76 T/A with a 5.0 offset.
Will the tire be too close to the inner wheel well or lip on outer fender

First you seem to be confusing offset with backspace.
Backspace is measured in inches.
Offset is measured in millimeters.
What are the width of the 5.0 backspace and 4.25 backspace?
That 17" wheel I believe is 2" wider.
You also make no mention of the tire since that is what might have an interference issue.
Is this the wheel?

Ok now I understand that offset is distance from flange to center of wheel
Back space is distance from flange to back of wheel
No sir, that Honeycomb style is not the wheel I'm asking about, but that wheel would probably better retain the value of the car, the wheel im asking about comes from a 78-81Trans Am Snowflake style shown on attached file
# FT703
Not sure which tire would fit, but want widest that won't cause any fitment issues

I would call Ames Performance and ask if they will work with a 76, I cannt imagine what is different from the 78 to 81 that would prevent it.
