My wife’s 09 Torrent has intermittent heated seats. As in the damn things won’t stay on and/or they won’t turn on. Any ideas as to any common problems that system may have ?

you have to test the connections to the seat when they are causing you an issue to determine whether the problem is inside the seat or it is the switch or wiring going to the seat,

All the connections have been tested. It’s not just one seat, but both. It seems to be the power to the seat switches is being interrupted. Although it’s intermittent enough that so far I haven’t been able to pinpoint it. Was more wondering if there’s a common issue with these ? Or maybe a common fix ??

you are the first person to bring up this issue on this site and I have been here seen 2008, so it's not a common issue here. Find a wiring diagram to make sure there isnt a circuit breaker feeding the switch.

thanks for your response, I have checked the fuse and relays located in the passenger footwell. When I swapped the 20 amp fuse with the sunroof fuse both heated seats worked once and then not again. The fuse was not blown. It’s very strange. I don’t think I have 2 bad switches or 2 bad control module? It sounds to me like a bad relay but I can’t seem to find the problem

So you never tried a new relay?

Yes I swapped it out with the rear window defroster which is identical, defroster works with both relays, I even took it to the local auto store to replace it and they put it on a machine and tested it.....worked perfect. I realize what I am saying doesn't make sense....I am hoping someone here has a solution

The seat heating elements maybe burnt out, have you tested with an ohmmeter?
