66 Lemans -Back Up Lamp Switch

While troubleshooting my fuel gauge, I found that the back up lamp switch connector was incorrectly hooked up to my fuel gauge! This was probably from the previous owner.
Attached is a picture of the back up lamp switch connector - the wires coming to it are Dark Green and Light Green. Based on the wiring diagram (also attached).

My question is: Does anyone here know where this correctly connects to? Where is the male plug of this connector located? Thank you!

Backup lights on an automatic are turned on by neutral safety switch. Do you have the 66 shop manual? Would think a car with a console would have the switch on the gear selector.

@melsg5 - thank you! I forgot about the Pontiac shop manual! You were spot on. The connector should be console - do you think I need to remove the console or should it be accessible? See screenshot from manual.

I would think the console has to be removed but the detailed instructions should be in the book

It's the neutral safety switch. It serves two purposes, turn on back up lights in reverse and prevent starter from engaging in any forward or reverse gear.

Correction to melsg5 post: The neutral safety switch **is separate** - it is the purple/purple wire connector (see wiring diagram)
Hopefully some useful notes:
Back up lamp switch:
• Located in center console -Dark Green/Light Green
• Goes to Old Heater Box harness
• Meter readings
• Normally Open • When shifter engaged to Reverse – Contacts on
• Checked power on both when key set to Ignition – 0 volts
