My mechanic has just informed me we are missing the gasket or seal that goes on the block of my 250 around where the crank is. He bought a Felton Gasket Kit, but that part was not in the kit for the Sprint 250.

I always worry when a mechanic needs the customer to order a part. Look at Rockauto. It's a rear main seal. If he means a gasket, need the name.

He ordered the gasket kit, and he told me the seal was not included. I wanted to maske sure we were talking about the same part so I looked for it on my own. I found a seal on eBay and asked him if that was the part. He said yes, but that he was ordering it.

Do you have a link to the seal? Is this mechanic in a repair shop or a backyard mechanic?

Front or rear of the crank? If it is the front, order the timing chain gasket kit for a Chevy 250 I-6, and just use the main seal, throw the rest away. They are the same seal on both the Pontiac OHC-6 & the Chevy OHV-6
