Any other evidence of a cruise control system?

No cruise control, talking to classic transmission it is a 1972 only thing but what does it do?

I am a little puzzled, they tell you it is a 72 only but they dont know what it does?
You found the wire just hanging not connected to any wire harness?

It does plug in but I don't have the car here right now...
I'll chase it next time i'm under the car

Thanks for your help

Please let us know what it connects to. Could not find any reference to it but did find the picture on the Frank's Pontiac Parts web site.

I just purchased a 72 Grand Prix 455/TH400.
It also has the connector on the mechanical speedometer gear housing.
The wires join up with the kick-down wire and continue up behind the engine. No sign of cruise. Any idea what it does?

I’m curious as well. My friend has a 72 Grand Prix Model J 400 and has this style. I have never seen this before. He is trying to reseal this drive. Are the seals the same as the conventional style?

Finally found the answer SCS , speed control switch related to emissions.

I have seen that , for emissions the tcs solenoid uses speedo reference along with temp sensor to allow full vacuum to vacuum advance on the spark whirler.

HI i am also looking to reseal or replace as mine is leaking. I had the transmission rebuilt but the shop said they had never seen one like it. I haven't been able to find one. have you ?

Why does it have to be replaced?

What was your point in copying a previous post with no further comment?
