Hi! My boss lent me her 2004 Montana. A couple weeks ago the thermostat needed changed and I did that. The other day it was running better than ever and all of a sudden it won't start. It does crank and it sounds like a fuel issue, but the pump was replaced a year ago. Her daughter, a regular driver of it, says it's done this before but after 45 minutes it goes ahead and starts. It did this, just as she said. I drove home and now it's been 2 days of cranking but no sign of starting. Put a code reader on it and nothing about the fuel pump comes up although a fuel pressure sensor warning did come up. Would that be the issue in itself? The fuel filter was changed at the same time and as far as I know it's never ran out of gas. Thanks everyone!

What is the code?
Can you do a fuel pressure test?
Can you test for spark?

Friend with code reader will be back by this weekend and I'll get back with you on that one. I'll have him bring his gauges as well, but we did check spark and there was one. I will recheck. Allow me to add one thing. I was looking at wires near the gas tank and saw no problems, but when the buttend was on jack stands and I started it tried. Chugged and was rough but could not repeat as batter died. On a charger now, but with the rear back down, crank but no start. I appreciate you getting back so quickly and I will check those all hopefully tomorrow and get back with you! Thanks again! :-))

Do you hear the pump when you turn the key to run?

No. Have mostly been solo and checked for sound in tank first thing. I mentioned to my boss this and her old man said the put in a new, Delco(I believe he said) just under a year ago, a long with a new filter.

New things break all the time, could be relay, wiring, or pump.

Agreed, yes sir. So, other than a right front tire code the code I just got, and the only one, is the crankshaft position sensor. With key on and checking the fuel rail pressure, it barely trickles out in a short burst and then nothing. Was gonna go buy a gauge but I assume the issue is before that so I'm checking filter next. Have to go buy another tool. Lol

Admittedly may be none of my business but how do you become responsible for fixing someone else's vehicle?

Haha! Actually I don't a vehicle, and my boss and her family have become quite good friends over the past few years. About 1 1/2 months ago she just gave me the keys and said here, in case ya need it. So, responsible no. But if I can help, I will. Just who I am to my closest friends. Did a spark test and it's good. Read more on the sensor, and I guess there is 2? So still have to check filter but sounds like sensor symptoms are vehicle won't start.

Sensor? You have no fuel pressure based on your description. You don't hear the pump run. Have someone turn the key to run while you listen to the tank.

Yeah. Took the fuel filter off. It was clear, checked pump while it was off and it's for sure pumping gas to the engine. Keep getting same P0355 code on reader.

At what pressure?

Odd that what I found was so different. But the reader did say crankshaft position and when we jiggled the wires heading to the sensor, it wanted to start. I am planning on taking the tire off to see if I can get close without removing the crankshaft pulley
