Pontiac sunfire 1996 motor swap?

I want to swap my motor for more horsepower does anyone have any suggestions on what motor to use and the main reason is because the head gasket is blown so I want to swap it

Have no idea which engine you currently have but the top engine for that year is the 2.4 DOHC. Replacing the gasket would be cheaper assuming you don't have high mileage.

It a 2.2 and it has 180 miles on it and it has a hole bunch of problems the knock sensor is bad the car came from Iowa so it got a lot of bad parts it runs good when it wants to but the guy that had it rig all the wires in the engine bay which I already fixed and rewire it a fun little car to drive if only had more power it very under power for where I live there a lot of hills it does not like hills even when running good I thought about fixing up this motor with more better car performance parts but I can't hardly find any parts for this car only the little things nothing major if you have any idea where I could find parts I would appreciate the information

Nobody makes performance parts for that engine. If you mean 180,000 miles it's probably down on power due to mileage.

Yeah I seen some people swap a 3800 v6 in pontiac sunfire i was thinking about doing that but I wanted to know if it would be a good idea or a reasonable swap to do
 
Just Google "Pontiac Sunfire 3.8 swap" and you will get lots of information as to what is involved
