Question about dashboard brake light in a 2000 Pontiac Grand AM?

Two days ago, while driving, the dashboard light for the parking break came on. It has remained on since. There has been no issues thus far with the working of the breaks. I recently (about 2-3 weeks ago) had a good amount of work done on the break system, having pads and shoes replaced, as well has both calipers and both cylinders. The brake fluid system was also flushed, checked for leaks, and refilled. Additionally, the cruise control function no longer engages. The garage I had the brake work done says there is nothing wrong and that they did not cause it. Any ideas as to what it could be? Next, I will be taking it to just run a diagnostic on the computer system to see if it is a short or something, just wondering if anyone has any ideas out there.

if u had brake work done on the car and now the light is on inside... that sounds like your mechanic missed something, dont let him tell u nothing is wrong, if the light is on something is wrong, he should look to be sure he didnt miss something. u could check the fluid level in the master cylinder... if the fluid is low the light will go on.
the cruise control is deactivated by pressing the brake. if the brakes were not properly bled after installation or were not adjusted correctly, the pedal will sit too low and will deactivate the c-control. try holding the brake pedal up with your foot and activate the c-control while driving. if it works while holding the pedal up then your mechanic did not bleed your brakes properly or adjust correctly after installation

When the BRAKE light is on the computer deactivates the cruise control, the BRAKE light indicates a problem with the braking system, so the cruise control will not activate.
