As of recent, I have been having a problem with some shaking and shimmering in the back end. Whenever I push my foot hard on the brakes, the car studders and braking is messed up. It is kind of like stopping with anti-lock brakes with the rhythmic shuddering when you stop.

Now, obviously, the first step would be to change the rear brakes, but I think there may be a bearing issue too.

I put the car on the lift, took off the rear tire and checked out the brakes. They seem to be worn down but not THAT bad. But what concerned me is that when i put the car on the lift.. and tried to spin the tire, it went freely, and then got stuck. I had to push the tire around some more.. then it spun freely... and stuck again at the same point in rotation.

Furthermore, when I go around turns (hard), there is a squealing noise coming from back there.

Has anyone ever had any issues with the back end like this?

I am concerned that it is a bearing issue or some other issue with the rear end. I will change the brakes and let you guys know if those other issues are still there.

you have a warped brake drum, try spinning the wheel without the brake drum.

I also had a problem like this and i thought it was a warped brake drum, but after lubing up all the mechanisms, it worked just fine, it`d been a while since i had removed the drum and it just turns out that the brakes were starting to get really stiff and wouldn`t fully release and would rub in only one spot. you could check this out too, might save you some money
