Okay, so I bled the slave cylinder and recovered 1st gear and the tranny shifts, but is not shifting smoothly. What are my options? Thanks in advance.

So what happened since then?

Nothing. In that thread I dind't have 1st gear, and reverse and third gears were grinding. Bleeding the slave recovered 1st and eliminated the grinding, however the tranny doesn't shift smoothly. I have to "feel" around to find the gear and apply pressure to shift it into gear. Now, maybe it's normal for this tranny. I haven't driven a stick in many years but I don't remember it being such a chore to shift. I was just thinking it needed gear oil or something.

Unless you know when it was last done draining and replacing the trani oil seems like a good starting point.

No clue when it was done last. It sat for a couple of years b4 I happened upon it.:D

on a manual you should have to apply minimal preasure...
without full depression on the clutch it will shift hard, grind, and make you apply more presure to get into gear. try bleeding the slave/master cylinders, lubing cable/trans. and if possible inspect the clutch/preasure plate.

Try lubing the shifter cable.

Will do.

This has already been done but I'll try the other suggestions. Thanks.

The clutch pedal has to go ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR? First stick I've ever driven where this was the case.:( Problem appears to be solved, for now...
