I recently took my 06 torrent to my mechanic for a problem I thought was with the brakes, possibly the ABS. The car on occasion makes a loud whirring noise and the brake pedal sinks slightly while sitting stopped. They told me the problem was the alternator, which they are repairing under warranty. I have never heard of an alternator affecting the brakes. Would this be a related problem to the alternator or possibly something else. Any ideas? Thanks.

never heard of that either, sounds more like an ABS or other brake component.

janster,
I would like to apologize for the issues that you are experiencing with your vehicle. Did you take your vehicle to a Pontiac Certified Service Center? If not I would strongly suggest that you do take it to one. If you need help locating a Certified Pontiac Service Center you can visit the link below and enter your zip code.

Thank you for replying. I did not take the torrent to a gm dealership, I took it back to the dealership where I purchased it only 3 months ago. I really want them to fix the problem as there is no deductible on my warranty if it is repaired there. If they don't resolve the issue I will certainly be taking it to a certified gm service area and billing them for my trouble. My daughter drives this vehicle and they will find out there is nothing worse than a ticked off mom. Thanks:)
